Nosotras somos el tiempo

We Are the Time

We are the time is a documentary piece that elaborates from the street intervention and the audiovisual language, the reappropriation of the concept of beauty that until now has been imposed on us; seeks to build a space of resistance and take a public space for the enjoyment of those who inhabit it.

We think of beauty as a territory, an island that we have been told exists and that we try to reach again and again to realize that we have been banished from it for a long time. This deterritorialization prevents us from living our present: the ideal body is always yet to come. The bodies that we inhabit, as they are, do not have the right to joy or happiness, it is necessary to transform them, and if that transformation does not occur, we must be seen unsatisfied and working towards the goal.

We are the time proposes a game of layers based on the relationship that is established with the camera, the register and how the relationship with the camera changes when someone else looks at one. The body most represented in advertising and social networks is that of women, how can we build a different relationship with the action of registering our bodies?

Projecting on the city walls opens spaces of representation for other corporalities: dissident bodies that escape the norm, full of stories, scars and experiences. We are interested in thinking that taking these materials that are part of our intimate configuration into the urban space will create bridges with other women, passers-by and citizens, who will recognize themselves on our skin. Creating other ways of inhabiting our city together seems fundamental, urgent and necessary.

In We are the time, we seek to recover what has been denied to us: the present of our bodies and the enjoyment of our streets collectively.
